Why Slug Fence ?

We developed Slug Fence to perform a simple task - to protect our plants from slugs and snails without using slug pellets. The result is a unique product that can be assembled around any area, from a single plant to a whole veg plot. You buy what you need and add to it as required - from a 4 segment fence around a single delphinium to 20 (or more) segments around your lettuces. Slug Fence is just as useful protecting plants in pots. The legs of the Slug Fence feed into the soil around the plant roots stabilising the fence while allowing water to permeate fully through the rootball

Re-use time after time

Slug Fence is one of the few slug and snail defence systems that can be re-used season after season. As the season progresses move it from plant to plant , make it bigger or smaller – or simply clean it, store it and use it the following year.

Flexible

Add protection to a single plant or a whole bed. Slug Fence can be expanded to suit most situations in any garden.

Safe

The materials used to make Slug Fence are commonly found within the household. The base structure is polypropylene (the same material used for items such as milk containers) and 99.9+% pure copper.

Simply clip sections together to increase or decrease the area, or pot size, to be protected.

The shape can be adjusted to suit the arrangement of your plants.

Snap together the sections you will use for the fence leaving one joint open.

Fold the open fence around the plant and close joint to make a closed fence

Press firmly into the soil leaving no gaps under the fence; ideally to the lower edge of the copper.

Recycle and re-use

Recycle and re-use extends to our manufacturing philosophy

In product manufacturing we have addressed the plastic issue from a different perspective – by recycling at source. Across the plastic manufacturing industry, for each part moulded there is a considerable amount of raw plastic discarded as part of the manufacturing process. This is rarely re-used as it can affect the cosmetic appearance and structural integrity of the finished part. Each year thousands of tons of this material is simply thrown away occupying more space in landfill sites.

Slug Fence is manufactured from 100% ‘re-grind’ i.e. the waste material from the manufacturing process, ground back into pellets at the same factory to be re-cycled as many times as possible.
